A total of 85 students, 11 teachers, and 6 trainers actively participated in the hands-on training, learning the process of extracting and weaving banana fiber an eco-friendly, biodegradable material derived from banana plant waste. The session highlighted the sustainability benefits of banana fiber, which is strong, lightweight, breathable, and resource-efficient due to the fast-growing nature of banana plants.
During the practical sessions, participants creatively crafted key chains, earrings, phone straps, bracelets, baskets, hats, and decorative items using banana fiber. The workshop not only enhanced students’ creativity and skill development but also encouraged the adoption of sustainable alternatives to synthetic materials.
This initiative effectively aligned with Mission LiFE by promoting waste-to-wealth practices, sustainable consumption, and environmentally conscious lifestyle choices among young learners.
